Summer Vacation!

Here we are, beginning of June, and M is FINALLY on summer break.  These last 6 weeks have been killer on me.  I was SORELY tempted to just pull her out of school and start our summer early.  So many projects, so much studying, so much whining, so much crying...You get the picture.  I just couldn't take it anymore.

AND THE ATTITUDE!!!!!  OH MY GOD!!!!!

There were several times when I thought I would just have to throttle her!  Since when do 9 yr. olds have attitude?  It just got worse and worse as the school year progressed, and I was so stressed out from that and all her stuff she does.  I kept giving her warnings and chances to fix her attitude, and it would escalate into something nasty.  Poor A had to put up with all of that.  I decided that if this was going to continue, it was going to be a very unhappy summer for us.  So now she gets one and ONLY ONE warning about her attitude.  The next time it makes an appearance, she loses ALL electronics (phone included).  This has happened twice already.  The first time, she and I had fun by playing a Lego game she asked me to buy her a few weeks ago.  The 2nd time was yesterday when she returned from a sleepover.  She was home 10 mins. and she'd lost all her stuff.  But she earned it back by doing the chores A asked her to do (which is why she lost the electronics in the first place).

M started taking archery lessons a few months ago.  She LOVES them!  She thought I wouldn't let her do archery, because it's too dangerous.  NOPE!  It's actually one of the safest sports around.  So she has her very own recurve bow, 6 arrows, a case, a quiver, and a very large target to practice on here at home.  She's really quite good at it, too.  We're so proud of her!  She was so excited when I found a place for her to take lessons, and super excited when I purchased all her equipment.  She was shocked when I shot a crossbow on my birthday a couple of weeks ago.  *heehee*  It was SO.  FUN!  I want one now.  *lol*  I know, I'm funny.

A will be working from home more now.  I don't mind, really.  He warned me, though, that he can't really help me out with The Bugs.  I told him I didn't think we were going to be home much, so we wouldn't be bothering him or interrupting him.  He was relieved.  Silly.  I think he's impressed with me, though.  I usually take advantage of him working from home to have him "help".  But I know he's very busy at work, and that he's got a lot to work on.  Besides, I do all this on my own during the school year.  Why should I ask him for help when he works from home?

K will be 10 mths. on Thursday.  How time flies!  She can crawl, but not in the traditional way.  She sits on her own, she's eating mostly people food, she's banging on pots, getting into shoes and diapering equipment, has 2 teeth with another on the way out, drinking 7 oz of formula (6 oz if A feeds her), tries to pull herself up, can stand with assistance, and M has been teaching her to walk and dance the past couple of weeks - so she can walk a few steps with assistance.  She's growing like a weed, and barely fits into her 9-12 mth. clothes.  Most of the clothes I bought her are for 12-18 mths.  Geez.  She's also got red hair.  Yeah, don't ask where it came from.  Still trying to find out.  And her eyes seem to be changing from grayish-blue to brown or hazel.  Hmm...Something to keep observing.

A got me a Magic Bullet for Christmas that I've used a few times in the past couple of months.  I love it!  For my birthday, he got me a Kitchenaid stand mixer.  I love THAT even more!  I've already made peanut butter cookies, banana pecan bread, and white bread with it.  A and M made pizza dough and 2 cakes with it.  And I'm going to make more bread as soon as I get a chance.  Kinda have to, since we're out of bread.

Time for me to check out and get the diaper bag ready.  Gotta go grocery shopping with The Bugs.  And since it's an Air Quality Health Alert Day here, I also have to pack M's inhaler.  Yeah, she was diagnosed with asthma a few weeks ago.  Long story.  Next time!
