I'm currently having "issues" with my oldest Bug. She's 11 and at that stage. Everything is an argument with her. I can barely have a conversation with her without her turning it around to use against me in some way. It's freaking annoying. I'm working hard on keeping my temper in check, but lately I've been sorely tempted to ship her somewhere WITHOUT ELECTRONICS!
The Ladybug is sick...AGAIN. *sigh* I don't know what to do about that. She has another cold. She JUST got over one, too! So now her nose is leaking everywhere again, and we have to chase her with either a tissue or a wipe. She can blow her nose now, so that helps. I just wish she wasn't always getting sick. The Big Guy took her to the pediatric urgent care close by. It's scary for us that she gets sick so much, especially when she had walking pneumonia about a month ago. She's been fever free all day, so she's going to MDO tomorrow.
While The Bugs are at school and The Big Guy's at work, I'm HOPEFULLY going to take the opportunity to vacuum, sweep, mop, and switch and wash bedding. I've been sick myself, and I hope I'm on the mend. I had to sign Cricket out of school 1/2 way through Mass on Friday because she wasn't doing too good. She missed a concert because of that. The Big Guy's been sniffling, sneezing, and blowing his nose, so I'm hoping it's just allergies. Any way you look at it, this house needs to be disinfected. I'll do what I can tomorrow while they're all gone, and do whatever is noise-free on Tuesday while the Ladybug is home. Wednesday is Cricket's day off, but the Ladybug still has MDO. However, Cricket has a dental appointment and I need to to go to the GS Leadership Center for some stuff. So Wednesday's a no-go for chores. At least heavy ones.
TBG and Cricket took down the Halloween decorations today (HA!), and he mowed. Cricket and I cleaned up the front living room as best we could while TBG and the Ladybug were at the urgent care. Well, it was a lot of ME cleaning and HER messing around. Ugh. But she eventually got moving. Hopefully I can clean some more in the next few days so that we can get the Christmas tree up this weekend. But first we gotta check the lights...which we were SUPPOSED to do tonight, but Cricket decided to check with TBG to see if she could have a snack instead of doing what I asked her to do so that we could check the lights. I'm ticked off, ESPECIALLY since she took AN HOUR to eat her freaking snack!
TBG tells me I shouldn't let her get to me, but how can I not? She turns a simple conversation into an argument, she turns everything I say against me, she knows which buttons to push, and she turns my words around to suit her. She may be 11 years old, but I swear she's a teenager. My God, was THIS how I was with my own mother? If so, I need to do some major apologizing. I'm working hard on keeping myself together, but it's getting more and more difficult. I wish I had a book to help me with this, but I don't. I do, however, have quite a few baby and toddler books. Well, I did: they're going to Goodwill...most of them.
*sigh* I'm calling an end to this entry. It's time to fight her again. Why? 'Cause she's back on her computer. Wish me luck...\

Girl Scouts
It's that time of year! Cookie time, you ask? NOPE! Just the time of year when Girl Scouts starts for us. Why so late? Beats me. Last year it was because 3 of the 4 leaders (myself included) had our Scout playing CYO Volleyball - on the same team, no less! So it was about practices and games for us. This year? The other 3 are now working at the school where our girl attend, and I'm stuck by myself with a 2 yr. old Ladybug. And CYO volleyball happened.
I have 3 training sessions under my belt now, and I had to cancel my attendance at a 4th (Money Manager) because I was ill. I have a Triple Whammy illness, but the one that's kept me in bed the past couple of days is (benign positional) vertigo. I hated having to cancel, but it had to be done. I was so dizzy and fighting nausea, that I spent most of that day in bed sleeping. Oh, wait. That was yesterday. I'm not at my best today, either, but I'm much better than I was yesterday.
I have spent so much time lately researching ideas and going to training sessions that I think The Big Guy is getting a bit too upset with me. Something about taking on more than I can handle. Me? NEVER! Of course, he had to take me to one of the Leadership Centers here so I could pick up EVEN MORE paperwork and such for my Juniors, but it'll work out in the end. I told him that our meetings may be Girl-Led, but at most the first 3 meetings are Leader-Led. He seemed okay with that. And since we only have 3 meetings before Christmas break, I've been making several trips to the Resource Center and printing stuff like crazy off the web...And researching patch ideas for the girls. I think it's going to be a great year for us!
Being sick, though, has limited my ability to plan better. I hope I planned well enough that the girls can pitch in to help me out. I've also got The Ladybug to take care of during the meetings. *sigh* No getting around that. I hope she behaves herself...
I have so much yet to get for the girls, but I just can't make the drive to the Leadership Center again. It'll all have to wait until next week, or the week after. I think we can manage with what I have prepared so far, which is A LOT. I also hope that we have enough time during the rest of the school year to do everything that they want to do, as well as the things I think they should do (like earning their Bronze Award).
Because we have only 1 meeting between tomorrow's 1st meeting and our Christmas Party/Meeting, I think I'll check out an activity kit from the Resource Center for them to work on. I don't know what's available, as I have yet to look through them. I've mainly spent my time gathering papers, checking out books, and looking through the shop, as well as attending training sessions. I guess I was never a leader in the past, like I thought I was, but only a Volunteer. Hmm...
Despite everything I've been through the past few days with my Triple Whammy Illness, I'm excited for tomorrow! I know my Cricket is anxious to know what's going to happen now that I've taken over the job of being the Troop Leader. No, I haven't told her anything. Only that I want them to work on getting their Bronze Award, and that the meetings are supposed to be Girl-Led. Hopefully I can keep the nausea down to a minimum tomorrow...

Summer Vacation!
Here we are, beginning of June, and M is FINALLY on summer break. These last 6 weeks have been killer on me. I was SORELY tempted to just pull her out of school and start our summer early. So many projects, so much studying, so much whining, so much crying...You get the picture. I just couldn't take it anymore.
AND THE ATTITUDE!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!
There were several times when I thought I would just have to throttle her! Since when do 9 yr. olds have attitude? It just got worse and worse as the school year progressed, and I was so stressed out from that and all her stuff she does. I kept giving her warnings and chances to fix her attitude, and it would escalate into something nasty. Poor A had to put up with all of that. I decided that if this was going to continue, it was going to be a very unhappy summer for us. So now she gets one and ONLY ONE warning about her attitude. The next time it makes an appearance, she loses ALL electronics (phone included). This has happened twice already. The first time, she and I had fun by playing a Lego game she asked me to buy her a few weeks ago. The 2nd time was yesterday when she returned from a sleepover. She was home 10 mins. and she'd lost all her stuff. But she earned it back by doing the chores A asked her to do (which is why she lost the electronics in the first place).
M started taking archery lessons a few months ago. She LOVES them! She thought I wouldn't let her do archery, because it's too dangerous. NOPE! It's actually one of the safest sports around. So she has her very own recurve bow, 6 arrows, a case, a quiver, and a very large target to practice on here at home. She's really quite good at it, too. We're so proud of her! She was so excited when I found a place for her to take lessons, and super excited when I purchased all her equipment. She was shocked when I shot a crossbow on my birthday a couple of weeks ago. *heehee* It was SO. FUN! I want one now. *lol* I know, I'm funny.
A will be working from home more now. I don't mind, really. He warned me, though, that he can't really help me out with The Bugs. I told him I didn't think we were going to be home much, so we wouldn't be bothering him or interrupting him. He was relieved. Silly. I think he's impressed with me, though. I usually take advantage of him working from home to have him "help". But I know he's very busy at work, and that he's got a lot to work on. Besides, I do all this on my own during the school year. Why should I ask him for help when he works from home?
K will be 10 mths. on Thursday. How time flies! She can crawl, but not in the traditional way. She sits on her own, she's eating mostly people food, she's banging on pots, getting into shoes and diapering equipment, has 2 teeth with another on the way out, drinking 7 oz of formula (6 oz if A feeds her), tries to pull herself up, can stand with assistance, and M has been teaching her to walk and dance the past couple of weeks - so she can walk a few steps with assistance. She's growing like a weed, and barely fits into her 9-12 mth. clothes. Most of the clothes I bought her are for 12-18 mths. Geez. She's also got red hair. Yeah, don't ask where it came from. Still trying to find out. And her eyes seem to be changing from grayish-blue to brown or hazel. Hmm...Something to keep observing.
A got me a Magic Bullet for Christmas that I've used a few times in the past couple of months. I love it! For my birthday, he got me a Kitchenaid stand mixer. I love THAT even more! I've already made peanut butter cookies, banana pecan bread, and white bread with it. A and M made pizza dough and 2 cakes with it. And I'm going to make more bread as soon as I get a chance. Kinda have to, since we're out of bread.
Time for me to check out and get the diaper bag ready. Gotta go grocery shopping with The Bugs. And since it's an Air Quality Health Alert Day here, I also have to pack M's inhaler. Yeah, she was diagnosed with asthma a few weeks ago. Long story. Next time!
