Things have been super busy this school year. Our daughter is in 2nd grade, which means she's making her 1st Communion this year. NEXT WEEKEND, to be exact! *sniffle, sniffle* (Seems like only yesterday we were getting her Baptized.) She's no longer in dance or choir, which took a HUGE weight off my shoulders when she dropped those. She is, however, still in swimming and Girl Scouts. Yay!!!!! (Where else am I gonna get my cookie fix?)
I found out I was pregnant again (2nd child) on New Year's Eve morning. What's funny about that is that our daughter asked for a baby brother or sister (preferably a sister) on her Christmas list. *lol* HILARIOUS!!!!! She's ecstatic about it. My twin sister had her baby (their 1st) 5 days after my VIPs birthday, which is fine. My sister was upset with that, but I just laughed at her. My newest niece is 6 mths. old, and precious! My daughter is 8 yrs. old and JEALOUS! Yep, jealous. She's not so bad now, but she HATES it when people say stuff ONLY about L and nothing about her. She's even accused ME - HER MOTHER - of preferring L over her. HA!!!!! I say my hello's to my niece, tickle her, make her smile, and then move right back to *MY* VIP...And I made her aware of that, too.
So now we have another on the way - a girl - and R is jealous. And a PITA. Like I said, not as jealous as she used to be. I've had several talks with her about her behavior, and I've given her lots of explanations as to why people behave the way they do around babies and ignore the older ones. I've NEVER ignored the older ones myself, since I love ALL kids. She knows that. I've even made her a promise that if she ever notices me paying much more attention to her baby sister or my niece, that she could come and confront me about it and then we'd make plans for an outing together - just the 2 of us. She loves her Sissy, don't get me wrong. But she's used to being the youngest grandchild and having most of the attention, and now she's not. It's a work in progress.
I had a perinatalogist appointment this morning. It was - by far - the worst I've had so far. The Alien's just fine, measuring where she needs to be. My glucose #s got a LITTLE high last week, so a couple of minor adjustments were made to my insulin. Nothing major. I'm used to it. What made it the worst appointment by far was my blood pressure reading. It's been a bit high the last 3 or 4 times I've been in. Last week, I attributed it to having drunk caffeine before my appointment (I forgot NOT to do that, as caffeine elevates your blood pressure). The time(s) before, I just said I wasn't sleeping all that well - which I wasn't. I slept as well as I could last night, what with a 1 lb. baby dancing all over my bladder and my hands going so numb they'd wake me up, too. So I knew today's reading wasn't that. The doc was concerned. It could be 1 of 2 things: 1. I could have gestational high blood pressure, which would be monitored and treated; or 2. I could have pre-eclampsia again. *sigh* So instead of going back in 2 weeks, which he originally wanted, I go back on Monday for a blood pressure check and blood work. I also have to do a 24 hr. test starting Sunday morning. So depending on all those tests, we'll see what happens. If it's pre-eclampsia, I'll either be hospitalized for a while or put on bed rest. Argh...
I've decided that since I don't know what's going on, and I won't know for at least another week, and there's absolutely nothing I can do till I find out, I'm not gonna panic or worry. Like I said, there's nothing I can do. So I've had my little worry session, and I've moved on from it. I've got things to do and a family to take care of. I can't just sit around and get all stressed over nothing. I'm already stressed enough as it is - who knew having to drive so many places in a day could stress you out? I'm beginning to realize that it's stressing me out.
Now that the "update" of sorts is taken care of (BTW, I'm 22w1d today)...Let's see if I can get some pics up. If so, there's be some new Bento creations...
Grilled chicken legs & green beans. I seasoned the chicken with Season All mixed with some salt. I sprayed the legs with Pam before I seasoned them all over. For ALL my veggies, I use butter and garlic salt. Vampires, beware...!
Hubby's "manly" snack: Oscar Mayer roast beef, Ritz crackers, and pimiento cheese. He liked it, but asked that I not make him snacks or lunches anymore. He hates worrying about having to remember to bring dishes home. Whatever...
R's snacks that same day (It was testing week): O.M.'s roast beef, 1/2 banana, Ritz crackers, & Colby Jack cheese slices torn into quarters. Oh, and an apple juice box.
Crockpot Honey Sesame Chicken via www.sixsistersstuff.com. Absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I serve it with veggies & white rice.
R's lunch a few weeks ago (Bento style): pork pot stickers and soy sauce, fresh strawberry chunks, sugar to dip the strawberries (not healthy, but it's what we like), and a juice pouch. My family & friends were jealous! *lol*
Homemade Breakfast Jacks: honey wheat or wheat sandwich thins, fried egg ("well done", not runny) seasoned with garlic salt and fried in butter, brown sugar ham from Land O' Lakes (I think), and American cheese. Again, Vampires beware!
That's it for now. I hope to keep this updated, at least until K is born. *sigh* We'll see what happens...
