One of our 2nd grd. teachers is having her 2nd baby in a few weeks (a girl). As parents of the students she teaches, we're all happy for her and her family. I was approached a few months ago by a few parents asking if we were going to do something for her. I guess my Partner In Crime (H) was approached by other parents as well, because she came up with something. (I'd say WE did, but that's a total lie. My pregnancy so far has kicked my butt too many times to count.) It was an awesome idea that she had, and I wish I'd been a part of the planning and scheming. Oh, well. At least I got to contribute!
I ended up donating some money for the "cause", as well as making a few boutique burp cloths for Mrs. M. I also threw in some hair bows that I'd made some time ago (with the intention of selling, but that never happened). I gave them all to H, and she was so surprised by what I'd created. She called and said it was just something she couldn't write in a note or in an e-mail, and felt that she just had to call to thank me for my work on the burp cloths and to tell me how beautiful they came out. H thought that I was just going to jazz up the burp cloths somehow - I guess with ribbon? - and wasn't expecting what I'd done. She was amazed at my work, and said I should keep making them and try to sell them. It was something I'd thought of doing a long time ago, but - as usual - it was idea that never took flight.
This phone call took place Friday afternoon. I couldn't get the conversation out of my head all weekend. I ended up telling A (my hubby) about it, and he didn't seem all that impressed. He never is, really. It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that it's something he's not really interested in. Same goes for me when he starts talking about computer stuff and software. Anyway...I ended up having some time to kill yesterday afternoon before I had to pick R up from school. I had to find some printer ink - which I found...YAY!!! - and BRU is right next door to OfficeMax. So I was looking around - really went there for baby storage stuff - and ended up looking at cloth diapers. I priced them, found out how much each was individually, walked around with them in my cart all over the store for a while, and ended up buying them. And some bibs, too - my creative juices were flowing. They were purchases that could have been put off for another month, and I knew it, but I ended up buying them anyway. I knew what would happen if I left without them. So I bought them, knowing that I would make them NOW.
Yeah, A was a bit miffed. But he understood. He knows how I get. An idea gets put off for another time, and the time comes & goes. But now I HAVE to follow through on my projects. The only snag: having to iron it all. Ugh...
I'd post pics of the burp cloths I made for Mrs. M., but I forgot to take some before I sealed them up for H.
*doh!* >.<
Silly me...
